NFL Betting action on Sunday features the Atlanta Falcons and the Chicago Bears squaring off at Soldier Field.

The head-to-head battle has been pretty even over the past six meetings going back to 1998, with both the Falcons and the Bears winning three times straight up (3-3 SU) and the Bears covering the spread in four of those games (4-2 ATS).

The Falcons, however, lost to the Green Bay Packers by a score of 48-21 in the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs.


Chicago finished 11-5 and 9-6-1 ATS and lost to the Packers in the NFC Championship.

A great matchup is on tap for Sunday night in New Orleans as the last two Super Bowl champs meet with the Saints hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers look like the best team in the NFL betting this season at 5-1 while the Saints are struggling at 4-3. The Steelers got a little lucky last week in their win over Miami while the Saints were shocked at home by the Cleveland Browns.

New Orleans is a 1-point favorite with a total of 44 at SBG Global.

The Saints have committed 14 turnovers in their last five games and quarterback Drew Brees looks nothing like the quarterback who led the league’s best offense last NFL betting season. Brees has 10 interceptions already which is one fewer than he had all of last year. Part of the problem for New Orleans is the lack of a running game. Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas have been out and opposing defenses are forcing Brees to throw the ball into coverage and he has not been successful. It appears that Bush is going to be out again and Thomas is nowhere near returning to the lineup. It won’t get any easier on Sunday night against a very good Pittsburgh defense.

The Steelers have quarterback Ben Roethlisberger back and they look as good as ever. Roethlisberger has thrown five TDs since returning from his suspension. Now the Steelers not only have the best defense in the league, they also have a very potent offense. Before Big Ben returned the Steelers were known as a running team but since he has returned the Steelers have been throwing the ball all over the field. Hines Ward looks great again as Pittsburgh’s top receiver and Mike Wallace has big play ability.

Pittsburgh has not played at New Orleans since 2002 when they lost 32-20.

The brothers met four years ago and it was the Colts coming away with a 26-21 win at New York.

The Colts will be trying to bounce back from last week’s pounding by the Houston Texans. Although the Colts lost just 34-24 it was the way that they lost that is cause for concern. The Colts were steamrolled by Arian Foster and the Texans. Peyton Manning did his part as he threw for 433 yards and three touchdowns but the defense was awful. That defense gets another tough test this NFL betting week against Eli and the Giants. The Colts will need to run the ball more than they did last week when they rushed it just 10 times compared to the 59 passing plays they called.

The Giants routed Carolina last week by a score of 31-18 as Eli threw three touchdown passes, all to Hakeem Nicks. The New York defense was very good as they forced Carolina into five turnovers. They will get a much stiffer test on Sunday against Peyton and the Colts.

Indianapolis has been virtually unbeatable at home recently. They are 15-1 in their last 16 home games. The Colts have not started a season at 0-2 since Peyton was a rookie back in 1998. The Colts have won 7 of the 13 all-time meetings against the Giants. New York head coach Tom Coughlin has never gotten a win against the Colts in his coaching career.

The Subway Fresh Fit 600 on Saturday from Phoenix is going to look different than it did a year ago. The NASCAR race from Phoenix will start earlier on Saturday, be longer and have different rules. The race will start earlier for television and there are 63 more laps than last year. The new distance will be just over 603 km. The earlier start time may or may not affect how the race is run. "I don't think it's going to have a big impact," said Chad Knaus, crew chief for Jimmie Johnson, "The track stays pretty consistent through the daylight hours, so I don't think you're going to have a big swing. You go through a pretty big transition when it gets dark: It gets cooler and the track picks up speed."

Johnson is the favorite in NASCAR odds at SBG Global to win the race that can be seen on Fox television. He leads all drivers with four career Cup victories at the track. The Subway 600 is just the second NASCAR race that is using the new spoiler instead of the rear wing. How well the cars handle in traffic is a major question mark at Phoenix. "The wing wasn't accepted as widely as we had hoped it would have been by competitors and fans alike," said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR’s vice president of competition.

The defending champion of the race is Mark Martin and he is the second choice at 6-1 at SBG Global behind Johnson. Denny Hamlin is expected to be in Phoenix even though he had surgery last Wednesday to repair a torn ACL in his left knee. Casey Mears will be on standby in case Hamlin needs relief.

Carl Edwards will be making his 200th career NASCAR Sprint Cup start on Saturday. He has a fourth place finish at Phoenix for his best finish at the track. He is 14-1 in NASCAR odds to win this week. “There’s no better place for me to have a milestone start like this than at Phoenix,” Edwards says. “That is where I ran my first-ever pavement race in 2001.”

The most anticipated golf betting tournament in recent memory begins on Thursday as the 2010 Masters gets underway. The tournament is all about the return of Tiger Woods and he is the favorite in golf odds at SBG Global. There are three golfers at SBG with single-digit odds. Woods has cleared the air and admitted his infidelity and now he says he is ready to play again. "The major championships have always been a special focus in my career and, as a professional, I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though it's been a while since I last played." Woods said. The stats back him up as only once in his career has he finished outside the Top 20.

Last year the Masters Odds had 16 players finish with a score of 5-under par or better. The previous three years that had not been the case. At over 7,400 yards, Augusta National is a very tough course. Length is important and putting is critical.

A stat to consider when looking for the winner of the Masters is Greens in Regulation. Staying out of the rough is very important at Augusta. Tiger is the favorite but taking him at 3.5 to 1 golf odds is a huge risk considering he hasn’t played in about five months. Ernie Els is playing as well as any golfer in the world and probably should be the favorite. Mickelson is always popular but he has not played that well this season. Other contenders are Retief Goosen, Steve Stricker and Paul Casey. Stricker is the second ranked player in the world. He is not getting much respect on the odds board and is a good value at 20-1. If you are looking for a longshot that is getting some respect then take a shot with Charl Schwartzel. He has played well this season and looks to be a rising star on the PGA Tour.
